About AIJA
Since 1962 AIJA provides outstanding international opportunities for young lawyers to network, learn and develop. AIJA currently has 4,000 members and supporters in 100+ different countries, including over 60 collective members and Bar Associations. The AIJA community is very diverse, as members come from law firms of all sizes and cultures.
The activities of AIJA are coordinated by 21 scientific commissions, in charge of organising our events all around the globe and keeping members up to the date in their respective areas of practice. AIJA is committed to defend and take active part in promoting core legal principles, such as the rule of law and human rights principles. While respecting the integrity of each civilized society of the world, a particular aim of AIJA is to advance cross-cultural understanding between members and other participants in the legal profession as a whole.
The Hague 2023
The Half-Year May Conference 2023 in The Hague proved to be a significant event, drawing legal professionals from various corners of the globe. Held in the renowned legal hub of The Hague, the conference provided attendees with a platform to engage in insightful discussions, share expertise, and forge valuable connections. With a diverse range of topics covered in interactive panel sessions and keynote speeches by industry leaders, the conference offered attendees a comprehensive understanding of the latest developments in the legal landscape. Overall, the Half-Year May Conference 2023 was a resounding success, serving as a catalyst for collaboration and innovation in the legal profession.
Mexico 2024
After an absence of nearly two decades, AIJA is set to make a return to Mexico City for the 2024 Half-Year May Conference! From May 29 to June 1, 2024, the vibrant city, often referred to as “The City of Palaces,” will serve as the host for this eagerly anticipated event.
Mexico City stands as a symbol of the harmonious coexistence of history and modernity, making it an ideal setting for a conference dedicated to exploring the evolving dynamics between the law and the digital economy. The academic agenda is carefully curated to delve into the latest trends, theories, and research, with a particular focus on their implications for legal professionals in their everyday practice.
The conference venue is strategically located in the financial heart of Mexico City, renowned for its top-notch facilities, stunning architectural landmarks, and world-class accommodation options. Surrounding the venue, attendees will find an abundance of cultural attractions, including museums and galleries showcasing over 4,500 years of Latin American and global history.
Under the theme of “Law in the Times of the Digital Economy,” the academic program will be divided into two distinct tracks. The first track will examine “Transactions in the Age of Technology,” featuring discussions on cutting-edge topics such as AI, blockchain technology, cryptocurrencies, and smart contracts. Meanwhile, the second track will explore “The Impact of the Digital Economy in our Daily Lives,” shedding light on how the digital economy influences various aspects of commerce, public interest, regulation, and policy, encompassing areas such as environmental concerns, healthcare, indigenous rights, traditional knowledge, and consumers’ rights.
Last year’s AIJA Half-Year May Conference in The Hague was a remarkable success. This year, we look forward to hosting the conference in Mexico, with hopes that it will achieve the same level of significance and impact. The Hague event was a landmark gathering, offering attendees unparalleled networking opportunities, insightful discussions, and access to cutting-edge legal insights.
